A Short Testimony

I was having lunch my colleagues today and I happen to strike a conversion with this new colleague of mine as usual we then introduced ourselves which includes the faith we subscribed to. He told me is a Buddhist well I always respected Buddha because of his righteousness and his teachings. I then pop the question can you keep the commandments of Buddha? Let say “you should not kill” Quoting from the book what Buddha’s definition is not to take life from all things that has life. You will be surprise the list includes germs, bacteria, viruses and the list goes on and when you are sick and if you do take anti-biotic you have already broken this commandment because anti-biotic not only kills the germs and bacteria, it also kills your own antibodies.

Coming back to the question again are you still able to keep the commandment “you should not kill”? After the explanation was given you can see the convictions in their faces. I personally feel that there is no way for Human Beings to keep these laws it is just impossible due to imperfectness of Mankind. A Buddhist ultimate goal is to escape from the wheel of sufferings and attain Buddha-hood and to do that you will have to keep all the commandments and if you break anyone of them you will not attain Buddha-hood and you will still in the wheel of sufferings. This colleague then smiles and said he was not a very strong Buddhist and did not really practice it from there we can then slowly introduce our Savior into their lives, they may not buy the idea at first but at the very least a seed is being sowed and we may not necessary one that will lead them to the conversion of the Christian Faith.
